Venezia dismiss Giovanni Stroppa after six league defeats

Venezia announced on Oct. 13 that Giovanni Stroppa had been dismissed as first-team coach. The club had lost its opening six Serie A matches and remained bottom of the table.
The club confirmed the departure in an official statement and thanked Stroppa and his staff for their work. ANSA reported that Monday’s 3-1 defeat at Atalanta left Venezia without a point.
Stroppa took over in summer 2025 and led the team to promotion from Serie B in the 2025-26 season. His return to the top division with Venezia was followed by the losing start to the current campaign.
The 58-year-old previously coached Cremonese, Monza and Crotone, and worked in Milan’s youth system. Venezia’s announcement confirms his dismissal but does not identify a permanent successor.
