Krishna delta farmers thank Naidu for Pattiseema water transfers

Farmers from the Krishna delta met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on October 10 to recognise the results of the Pattiseema project.
The gathering at the government Secretariat included Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu. Farmers thanked Naidu for starting the diversion of Godavari floodwaters into the Krishna basin before completion of the Polavaram project.
The meeting highlighted an estimated 500 billion cubic feet of water transferred to the delta through Pattiseema over the past 11 years. The Hindu and other Indian outlets reported the figure, which represents the cumulative volume across years of operation.
Naidu said using Godavari water to irrigate the delta allows Krishna water to be conserved in the Srisailam reservoir and redirected to the dry Rayalaseema region. He described that approach as helping meet agricultural and drinking water needs.
The chief minister also linked improved supplies to industrial development in Rayalaseema, citing Kia as an example. He thanked farmers for their cooperation and described Pattiseema’s results as significant for the state’s water security.
