The water level at Mullaperiyar dam was 116.40 feet on Friday morning, with inflow at 91 cusecs and discharge at 400 cusecs, The Hindu reported. The dam’s maximum permissible level is 142 feet.

Vaigai dam stood at 42.82 feet, against a maximum level of 71 feet. Its inflow was 105 cusecs and discharge was 86 cusecs. Combined storage in the Periyar credit was reported at 2,954.57 million cubic feet.

Rainfall totals for the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Friday ranged from 12.6 mm at Pulipatti to 0.8 mm in Madurai. Kodaikanal recorded 10.8 mm, Mettupatti 10.6 mm, Melur 10.2 mm, Thaniyamangalam 5 mm and Sothupparai dam 3.8 mm.

Sathiyar dam recorded 3.4 mm, Chittampatti 3.2 mm, Kallandiri 2.2 mm, Andipatti 1.6 mm and Manjalar dam 1 mm.
