WFP cuts food assistance in Gaza as funding runs short
About 500 thousand people in Gaza will lose monthly food assistance because of funding shortages at the UN World Food Programme, Reuters reported, citing the agency.
WFP said food rations had been halved and daily hot meals reduced from 250 thousand to 150 thousand. Some families in hard-to-reach areas now receive a hot meal only every other day.
Two-thirds of Gaza's population still face acute food insecurity, according to the programme.
WFP urgently needs 450 million dollars over the next six months to maintain critical operations in Gaza and the West Bank.
