Omsk court awards over 180 thousand rubles for forest fire damage
Moskalensky District Court has ordered the district administration and PRODO Zerno to pay more than 180 thousand rubles for forest fire damage and firefighting costs. The Omsk region courts' press office reported the ruling on October 19.
The two fires occurred in June 2026 in the Zvezdinskoye tract of the Moskalensky local forestry area. Flames spread onto forest land from neighbouring agricultural fields and affected 61.8 hectares of woodland.
The courts' press office said the district's and company's land had not been separated from the forest by mineral firebreaks. Dry grass had also been left uncleared on the adjoining land. The court found that these fire safety violations caused the fires to start and spread.
The Omsk region's forestry authority brought the claim. The court awarded it over 162 thousand rubles from the administration and around 18 thousand rubles from the company, taking account of their respective responsibility.
