Witkoff asks Putin to consider renewed Russia-US-Ukraine talks

Steve Witkoff said he hoped Vladimir Putin would consider restarting talks involving Russia, the United States and Ukraine. The US envoy suggested discussions could take place through technical groups.

He raised the proposal during his meeting with the Russian president in St Petersburg. Interfax reported that Witkoff linked the format to discussions of the next steps toward resolving the conflict.

Before travelling to Russia, the American negotiator met Ukrainian and European representatives in Oslo. He brought documents outlining approaches to a settlement to his meeting with Putin.
