Yorkshire wildlife park says tiger will not be euthanised after man's death

Yorkshire Wildlife Park said on October 11 that Altai, the tiger involved in the death of a man who entered its enclosure, would not be euthanised.

In a statement on X, the park said the animal was safe and well. It explained that the announcement responded to numerous questions from members of the public about the tiger's future.

South Yorkshire Police said the incident took place near Doncaster on October 10. A man entered the enclosure and was attacked. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

The park said it would remain closed on October 11. Support was being provided to affected staff, and the administration expressed condolences to the man's family and loved ones.

Police are continuing to establish the circumstances. The reports do not establish why the man entered the enclosure.
