ActionSA calls for greater police presence in Emalahleni

ActionSA's Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate Xolani Khumalo has called for a greater police presence in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. He spoke during the party's anti-drug awareness walk on October 10, SABC News reported.
The march drew attention to crime and drug use in local townships. SABC News said residents had raised concerns about young people leaving school because of drug abuse. ActionSA is holding such events as part of its campaign ahead of local elections next month.
Khumalo said police visibility needed to improve in the Kwaguqa area. He also called for authorities to reclaim illegally occupied buildings, which he argued contributed to crime and prostitution.
In a separate report on the walk, SABC News said the party wanted more officers on the streets and rehabilitation centres. ActionSA is contesting municipal elections in Mpumalanga for the first time. Khumalo's remarks set out the party's demands, rather than a policing programme announced by the authorities.
