Alcaraz beats Cerundolo in straight sets at Shanghai Masters

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-3, 6-3 in the Shanghai Masters second round on October 10.
The Spaniard needed one hour and six minutes to reach the third round. AFP independently confirmed the straight-sets victory.
Alcaraz is ranked third in the world. His Argentine opponent stands at No. 55 in the ATP rankings, according to RIA Novosti's match report.
Alcaraz took six games in each set to Cerundolo's three. No deciding set was needed.
RIA identified the winner of Ignacio Buse of Peru versus Belgium's Zizou Bergs as Alcaraz's next opponent. It listed their rankings as No. 36 and No. 39 respectively.
The Shanghai tournament has a prize fund exceeding $9.4 million. The second-round win keeps Alcaraz in the title contest but does not yet place him in its decisive closing rounds.
