Alvas Nudisiri Virasat festival set for January 6–10 in Moodibidri

Alvas Nudisiri Virasat will bring literary and cultural events to the Alvas College campus in Moodibidri from January 6 to 10, 2027. Alvas Education Foundation chairman M. Mohan Alva announced the programme.
Alva outlined the plans to reporters on Thursday, The Hindu reported. This will be the third consecutive year that the foundation combines the literary Alvas Nudisiri event with the cultural Alvas Virasat festival. The cultural opening on January 6 will feature a procession with a ceremonial chariot, Vedic chanting and bhajans. Two artists will receive awards for contributions to classical and folk music.
The literary event will run from January 7 to 9, chaired by writer Narahalli Subrahmanya and inaugurated by Vishwavani editor Vishweshwar Bhat. Emerging artists will perform each evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Musicians will also present morning ragas and appear on different stages.
Hasiru Samvaada, on January 6 and 7, will examine work in 50 villages to keep plastic and other pollutants out of the Gurupura, Nandini and Shambhavi rivers. A state-level jamboree is expected to draw 5,000 Scouts and Guides. Another 800 selected art enthusiasts will receive free instruction in classical music, dance, percussion and other art forms.
Alvas Vidyarthi Siri is scheduled for January 8 and Alvas Yuvasiri for January 9. Agricultural, science, food, book and art fairs will also take place during the five-day festival.
