Anthony Taylor appointed head of Turkish football's referees committee

Former English referee Anthony Taylor has been appointed chairman of the Turkish Football Federation's Central Referees' Committee. The federation's executive board approved the appointment.

Alan Snoddy, Igor Radojicic and Barış Şimşek were also appointed to the committee. Taylor had been serving as elite refereeing director in Türkiye, according to the federation's official announcement.

The 48-year-old began working in the country on August 4, 2026, after ending his refereeing career. His responsibilities included training top-level officials, improving performance assessment and organising education programmes in line with UEFA and FIFA standards.

Taylor is the first foreign national to lead the country's refereeing body, Anadolu reported. His views had already been taken into account in league referee appointments since the beginning of October.

Taylor began officiating in the English Premier League in 2010 and became a FIFA referee in 2013. He worked at World Cups and European Championships.
