ASI names Russia’s leading regions for material well-being in 2025

The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug led Russia’s regional index of material well-being for 2025, followed by Moscow and Tyumen Oblast. RIA Novosti reported the findings on October 10, citing an analytical report from the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI).
Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug placed fourth and St Petersburg fifth. Among federal districts, the Ural Federal District ranked first, followed by the Northwestern Federal District and the Central Federal District.
The index reflects families’ financial position and the adequacy of household incomes, using data for 2025. The leading five regions are ranked specifically for material well-being.
The report draws on the National Quality of Life Ranking, which ASI compiles annually at President Vladimir Putin’s direction. It also examines changes in healthcare, education, infrastructure and the urban environment. The material well-being ranking describes one aspect of living conditions rather than an overall assessment of all those areas.
