Russia's 30 December working day will not be shortened, lawmaker says

Russia's working day on 30 December will remain its usual length, State Duma member Svetlana Bessarab told RIA Novosti on 10 October. The following day is a transferred day off rather than a public holiday.
The 31 December break comes from moving the Sunday day off of 4 January to the end of the year. Bessarab said that this arrangement does not make 30 December a shortened working day under the production calendar.
She nevertheless expects many employers to let their staff leave earlier on 30 December. That expectation concerns decisions by individual employers, rather than a general reduction in the day's scheduled working hours.
