Balanin reports growth in cardiovascular CT and ultrasound volumes

Volumes of these examinations under regional compulsory health insurance programs rose by more than 14% in 2026, Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund head Ilya Balanin said.

Speaking in the State Duma on October 13, Balanin discussed diagnostics under this year's state healthcare guarantees program. He said it introduced shorter examination deadlines for suspected cardiovascular disease for the first time.

The federal fund, regional insurance funds and medical insurers monitor compliance with those deadlines. The remarks quoted did not specify the exact waiting periods.

The fund also tracks whether patients enter regular medical follow-up promptly after a diagnosis is confirmed and complete the prescribed stages of monitoring. Balanin said the volume of care provided within that framework had increased by about 15%.

The figures describe examination and care volumes. They are not measurements of falling mortality or proof that diagnostic delays have been eliminated in every region.
