BJP disputes Rahul Gandhi's account of meeting with President Murmu

The Bharatiya Janata Party accused Rahul Gandhi of misrepresenting the opposition's October 9 meeting with President Droupadi Murmu. Party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi called Gandhi's account politically motivated.
The INDIA bloc delegation met the president to raise allegations of vote theft. Afterward, Gandhi said Murmu had neither rejected nor questioned those allegations and had asked the opposition to provide evidence. The Hindu and NDTV reported his account.
Trivedi responded that India's president represents a constitutional institution and accused the Congress leader of using the meeting for political purposes. He also asked whether Congress had checked voter lists and whether its agents had identified irregularities during voting or counting.
The dispute comes amid INDIA bloc protests against the special intensive revision of electoral rolls, known as SIR. The opposition is demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. The Hindu reported BJP's response on October 9, 2026, as by-election results were announced. Gandhi's account of the president's position and Trivedi's objections remain the political sides' respective claims.
