Bloomberg: OpenAI targets $70 billion revenue run rate by year-end

OpenAI expects its annualized revenue to reach or exceed $70 billion by the end of 2026, Bloomberg reports. Its run rate was about $50 billion at the end of September.
The Financial Times reported, citing information shared with investors, that the ChatGPT developer's annualized revenue was approaching $50 billion. That was $20 billion below the figure previously reported by the newspaper and other outlets using investor information.
Bloomberg says $70 billion is the expected year-end run rate, rather than a level already achieved. It attributes the forecast primarily to growth in the company's enterprise business.
Annualized revenue projects sales from a shorter period over a full year. It differs from actual revenue earned during a calendar year. The September estimate of $50 billion and the $70 billion forecast therefore refer to different points in time.
