Carrick confirms Martinez in Leeds squad after apology

Manchester United coach Michael Carrick said on October 16 that the club had moved on from Lisandro Martinez’s public criticism of its leadership. The defender will be in the squad for Sunday’s trip to Leeds, Carrick confirmed.
Carrick said Martinez had acknowledged a mistake in his public statement and that this was enough for the team to move forward. He spoke at a press conference reported by Sky Sports.
The dispute followed Tuesday’s 2-0 away defeat to Atletico Madrid in the second round of the Champions League league phase. Martinez blamed insufficient squad investment while supporting Carrick.
The player subsequently met club leaders and apologised. The Athletic had earlier reported a possible fine.
Manchester United travel to Leeds for their next match on Sunday, October 18.
