Hamburg court considers motion to dismiss Nord Stream case

Hamburg's Higher Regional Court is considering a defence motion to dismiss the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage case against Sergei Kuznetsov, its press office told RIA Novosti on October 16.

The defence raised procedural objections at the opening hearing on October 14 and sought dismissal. Court spokeswoman Mareike Frantzen said she could not predict when a decision on the motion would be made.

Kuznetsov is accused of involvement in the pipeline explosions on September 26, 2022. He was arrested in Italy in August 2025 and subsequently extradited to Germany.

Frantzen said consideration of the defence motion had delayed approval of the agenda for hearings planned in November. The next hearing is scheduled for October 27.
