Child seriously injured in crash on Chita–Khabarovsk highway

A child was hospitalised in serious condition after a collision on the Chita–Khabarovsk highway, the Transbaikal regional health ministry said. Its updated figures put the total number of injured at eight.

Three patients were taken to hospital. The child is at Shilka Central District Hospital, while two others were taken to Transbaikal Regional Clinical Hospital. The ministry described their conditions as serious and satisfactory.

The crash happened on Sunday at kilometre 148 of the federal highway. According to the traffic police's preliminary account, a Toyota Hilux entered the opposite lane, struck a road barrier and collided with a Kia Sportage.

Traffic police initially reported four injured, including the child. The regional health ministry later updated the total and provided details of those hospitalised.
