China’s passenger car exports to Russia reach two-year value high
China exported $1.59 billion worth of passenger cars to Russia in September 2026, up 9.9% from August and the highest monthly value since September 2024, according to Interfax calculations based on Chinese customs data.
The value of shipments reached $10.7 billion in January–September, 2.1 times the level recorded in the same period last year. The figures measure export value rather than the number of vehicles.
The previous higher monthly figure was $1.77 billion in September 2024. Shipments then increased ahead of an average 70–85% rise in Russia’s vehicle recycling fee from October and the introduction of annual fee increases.
Five Chinese regions accounted for 74.7% of the value of passenger car exports to Russia this year. Anhui, home to JAC, supplied 32.9%, or $3.5 billion. Hebei, the main region for Great Wall Motor, accounted for 18.7%, or $2 billion.
Chongqing, where Changan is based, supplied 10.6%, worth $1.1 billion. Heilongjiang accounted for 6.7%, or $713.9 million, and Zhejiang for 5.8%, or $622.4 million.
Truck exports in September rose to 2.3 times their August value, reaching $144.5 million. Their value over nine months totalled $795 million, up 54.2% year on year.
Exports of vehicle parts and accessories increased 13.6% from August to $302.6 million in September. Their January–September value exceeded $2 billion, up 34.2% from a year earlier.
