CNN reports military uncertainty over plans to livestream Hasan execution

Pete Hegseth's announcement of a public execution for Nidal Hasan caught some Pentagon and Army personnel off guard, CNN reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter.
The sources said officials initially questioned whether a public execution would mean a livestream. Army regulations specify who may witness an execution, including relatives of the prisoner and victims, journalists and a chaplain.
According to CNN, Hegseth and other senior officials decided on a livestream. Questions remain over where the footage would be shown and how the identities of participating troops would be concealed.
Donald Trump has since said he will make the final decision on livestreaming. JD Vance has also questioned whether the broadcast will go ahead.
Hasan's execution is scheduled for December 3. The former Army psychiatrist killed 13 people at Fort Hood in Texas in 2009.
