Delhi closes entry and exit at six Metro stations until 4 p.m.

Entry and exit at six Delhi Metro stations are closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time on October 12 for security reasons. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said passengers can still change lines at the affected stations.

The restrictions cover Patel Chowk, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Barakhamba Road. The announcement concerns street access to and from the Metro rather than a ban on interchange within the network.

The operator said security agencies would review the situation and further updates would be shared as necessary. The stated end time should therefore be distinguished from confirmation that the gates have actually reopened.

The measures precede a planned Opposition march to India’s Supreme Court. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge had sought a meeting with Chief Justice Surya Kant over alleged election irregularities. He declined, citing similar matters pending before the court.
