Dortmund used hotel showers after Champions League match in Baku
Borussia Dortmund’s players returned to their hotel to shower after beating Sabah 2–1 in Baku. They did not use the facilities at the city’s Olympic Stadium.
Coach Niko Kovac said he had been instructed not to use the stadium showers. His players had made the same decision after training on Monday, he added.
Bild linked the precaution to concerns including possible Legionella bacteria. The newspaper did not provide confirmed evidence that the bacteria were present in the stadium’s water.
Dortmund sporting director Ole Book described the hotel showers as more comfortable. Sabah player Joy-Lance Mickels, by contrast, praised the stadium facilities and said his team had used them before playing Slavia the previous week.
Dortmund have six points and sit 11th in the Champions League league-phase standings. Sabah are 25th with three points.
