Driver in Chakovskaya crash case accepts civil claim, lawyer says
The truck driver charged over the crash involving Moskvichka magazine PR director Ekaterina Chakovskaya has accepted her civil claim and intends to compensate her before the trial ends. His lawyer Vagram Kirakosyan told RIA Novosti of the plan on October 11.
Kirakosyan said the court had barred his client from contacting the victim. The restriction prevents him from apologising directly or asking about her health. The report did not state the amount sought in the claim.
Chakovskaya was hit by a truck on Moscow's Khodynskaya Street on August 11. She later reported a traumatic head injury, a concussion and fractures to three ribs and the base of her skull.
According to Moscow prosecutors, the driver left the scene and was subsequently detained. He remains under house arrest in a case concerning an alleged traffic violation that caused serious injury through negligence.
