Egor Kornev sets 50m butterfly world record in Tashkent

Russia’s Egor Kornev set a short-course world record in the men’s 50-metre butterfly at the Swimming World Cup in Tashkent, finishing in 21.28 seconds.
World Aquatics confirmed the record in its report on the final day of the Uzbekistan competition. Kornev finished in 21.28 seconds, adding a world-record performance to his campaign at the second stop of the series.
The meet took place in Tashkent from October 8 to 10. The result applies to the men’s 50-metre butterfly in a short-course pool, rather than to a long-course race or the overall World Cup classification.
Sport-Express reported that Russian swimmers participated with their national flag and anthem. World Aquatics’ official report supplies the finishing time that was absent from the initial Russian news brief.
