Chahal calls for more help for bowlers after West Indies chase 250

India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal called for pitches that offer bowlers more assistance after West Indies chased a 250-run target in the second T20 international in Ranchi.
Speaking on JioStar, Chahal said flat surfaces, smaller boundaries and dew were tilting T20 cricket towards batters. He questioned how bowling skill could make a difference when conditions offered so little help.
India made 249/5 on Friday, but West Indies completed the chase in 18.3 overs to win by six wickets. The result levelled the five-match series at 1-1.
Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 102 from 45 balls and Sherfane Rutherford added 84 from 37. Their 120-run partnership helped the visitors take control of the chase.
Chahal extended his criticism to the Indian Premier League. He said the Impact Player rule gave batting sides additional strength on already demanding grounds and pitches.
In his comparison, totals of 170-180 and scores of 50 in the first six overs had once been competitive. He contrasted those with present-day powerplay scores of 70-80.
Chahal argued that pitches should give bowlers something to work with, using a bowling machine as a rhetorical illustration of what happens when their skills lose relevance. India will seek a response in the third match in Indore on Sunday.
