Egypt's defence council approves support for Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks
Egypt's National Defence Council approved providing Saudi Arabia with all necessary support to defend its security amid Houthi attacks.
Presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy announced the decision. He said the council stressed the connection between Saudi security and that of Egypt and other Arab countries.
The Houthis have repeatedly attacked King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh this month. Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority said a strike on October 11 killed one person and injured 11. The Houthis have also claimed attacks on Saudi Aramco facilities.
Earlier in October, Rashad Al-Alimi, head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, announced a military operation against the Houthis. Saudi Arabia backed the Yemeni authorities' decision.
Egypt's defence council also said it would intensify diplomatic efforts with regional and international partners to reduce tensions and seek peaceful settlements to regional crises.
