Evgeni Malkin scores as Penguins lose to Blue Jackets in shootout

Evgeni Malkin scored his third goal of the NHL season to tie the game in the third period, but Pittsburgh lost 3-2 to Columbus in a shootout.
The October 9 game in Columbus ended overnight into October 10 in Moscow. Malkin equalised at 3:19 of the third period, bringing Pittsburgh level at 2-2. The Blue Jackets subsequently won the shootout.
The 40-year-old Russian forward has five points in five games this season, with three goals and two assists. Sport-Express put his career total at 1,412 points in 1,274 games: 536 goals and 876 assists. His equaliser helped Pittsburgh recover, but the visitors finished with a defeat rather than a win.
