FIFA orders peace prize assessment ahead of December decision

FIFA's Council has asked its Football Social Responsibility Committee to assess the peace prize first awarded to Donald Trump. A decision is scheduled for the Council's December meeting.
FIFA's announcement instructs the committee to assess the award, with a Council decision due in December 2026. It does not announce the prize's cancellation or the reversal of Trump's award.
FIFA introduced the prize on November 5, 2025, saying it would recognise exceptional actions for peace and bringing people together. The inaugural presentation was scheduled alongside the draw for the 2026 World Cup.
Trump received the prize from FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Washington on December 5, 2025. The Council also agreed to create a working group representing the confederations to examine FIFA's governance framework in detail.
