FOM poll finds 73% approve of Putin’s performance

In a FOM survey, 73% of respondents rated Vladimir Putin’s performance as president positively and 71% expressed trust in him. RIA Novosti reported the findings on October 9.

Eighteen percent said they tended not to trust the president, while 13% gave a negative assessment of his performance. These are answers to separate survey questions: trust and approval of the president’s work are distinct measures.

The government’s performance was rated positively by 47% and negatively by 32%. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin received a positive rating from 53% and a negative one from 16%.

Asked how they would vote in a State Duma election the following Sunday, 38% chose United Russia, 15% the Communist Party, 9% the Liberal Democratic Party, 8% New People and 3% A Just Russia. The figures reflect respondents’ stated preferences.

The FOMnibus survey was conducted on October 2–4, 2026 through interviews at respondents’ homes. It included 1,500 people older than 18 from 97 settlements in 51 Russian regions. The stated statistical margin of error does not exceed 3.6%.
