Qatar warns of regional risks from damage to Hormuz internet cables
Damage to undersea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz would hurt countries in the region, including Iran, the most, Qatari foreign ministry official Ibrahim Al Hashmi said at a press briefing.
The comments followed remarks by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesman Hossein Mohebi identifying cables as potential targets in a renewed escalation with the US, RIA Novosti reported.
Al Hashmi also urged Iran to stop attacks on vessels. He said such actions harmed the environment and the waters of the strait.
