The government announced the deployment as student protests continue over school conditions and staffing shortages.
Education Minister Edouard Geffray said 3,000 substitute teachers would be assigned to high schools in the most difficult situations. Higher Education Minister Philippe Baptiste said placements at schools facing the most acute problems were expected to be completed by Tuesday.
Baptiste described the measure as substantial support for high schools experiencing tensions. Student protests began in September with demands to address teacher shortages and the lack of cover for absent teachers, before spreading across the country. Students have also raised concerns about overcrowded classrooms and the condition of school buildings.
Geffray said the authorities would take account of students' views gathered through an online consultation platform since Monday evening. He did not specify how the students' proposals would affect subsequent decisions.
Ministers are due to meet youth organizations again on Monday. The agenda includes transparency at Parcoursup, France's higher education admissions platform, and tensions linked to universities' limited capacity.
