A 19-year-old Tunisian man and a 24-year-old Italian woman have been detained. Police link them to the killing of a man whose body was found on Via Attilio Hortis on October 5.
Italy’s State Police said two people had been detained in connection with the killing of a man whose body was found on the morning of October 5 on Via Attilio Hortis, near Villa Gordiani in Rome. The suspects are a 19-year-old Tunisian citizen and a 24-year-old Italian woman.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage to reconstruct the victim’s final hours. Police allege that at about 8 a.m. on the day of the killing, the man got into a car with the two suspects. Investigators say the same car was later recorded on Via Attilio Hortis at about 11:45 a.m. The body was found roughly half an hour after a call to emergency number 112.
Investigators also cite a vehicle check on the evening of October 6. Carabinieri stopped the pair in the same car and found a kitchen knife inside. State Police said its characteristics were compatible with the weapon used in the killing. The check followed a report of an assault allegedly involving the same two people.
Judicial authorities ordered the two held on suspicion of murder. The measure is part of the investigation and does not establish their guilt. Police said inquiries are continuing to clarify the motive and other circumstances.
