Freight train collides with car at Shtabka crossing in Altai region

A freight train collided with a passenger car at Shtabka station’s level crossing in Russia’s Altai region. West Siberian Railway said on October 10 that preliminary information indicated no injuries and no derailment.
The railway said the collision occurred at 01:12 local time on October 10. The car entered the tracks in front of the approaching train. Emergency braking did not prevent the impact.
Regional outlets Amic and Katun 24 identified the train as a freight service. The report of no deaths or injuries remains preliminary. The railway said passenger services were unaffected.
West Siberian Railway urged motorists to remain alert at crossings and obey traffic rules. Its account attributes the incident to the car entering the crossing ahead of the train, rather than an established defect in the rolling stock.
