CJP leaders taken to separate locations after Delhi detentions

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and two other leaders were detained on October 10 ahead of a planned protest against Election Commission chief Gyanesh Kumar. The Times of India reported that they were taken to separate locations.
Dipke was detained after arriving at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and taken to Gurugram. Ashutosh Ranka was taken to Dwarka, while Saurav Das was moved to another location in Delhi that the newspaper did not specify.
The Times of India reported nearly 1,500 detentions connected with the protest. At the airport, Dipke said he had arrived prepared to be arrested. That statement expressed his position, while the report described detention without identifying charges.
Strict traffic restrictions began at 6 a.m. Officers checked vehicles at barricades and major intersections and regulated movement near the proposed demonstration site. Metro restrictions, train cancellations and a suspension of mobile internet in parts of the capital accompanied the security operation.
Traffic police warned of disruption around Connaught Place, Mandi House, Jantar Mantar and Patel Chowk. Affected locations included the Ashoka Road–Jantar Mantar Road roundabout, Tolstoy Marg–Janpath crossing, Jai Singh Road–Sansad Marg crossing, Rail Bhawan, Gol Dak Khana and Windsor Place. Diversions depended on the prevailing situation.
Delhi Police refused permission for the demonstration, citing public-order concerns and possible inconvenience to residents. In its communication with CJP, it also said the notification received from the group did not constitute a properly filed permission application.
