Police seek owner of empty boat found on Magnetic Island

Police are asking for help identifying the owner of an empty motorboat found at Horseshoe Bay on Australia's Magnetic Island. Searches on land and from the air did not locate anyone associated with the vessel.

The boat was found at about 5.30pm local time on October 10. A police helicopter searched the area around 7pm without finding anyone, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. The aircraft was not assigned to resume the search on Sunday, while officers continued examining the boat.

The vessel is a 16-foot green-and-white fibreglass ski boat with an outboard motor. Mirage News published a Townsville Water Police appeal carrying the same description. Anyone who recognises the boat or knows its owner's whereabouts is asked to contact police.
