Glushenkov backs decision against penalty in Zenit's win over Krasnodar

Maxim Glushenkov said a penalty probably was not warranted after his collision with Douglas Augusto. The Zenit player commented on referee Inal Tanashev's decision after a 3-2 win in the Russian Premier League's 10th round.

The incident occurred inside Krasnodar's penalty area while Zenit were leading 3-1. Glushenkov went down following contact with Augusto, but the referee did not award a spot-kick.

Video assistant Evgeny Bulanov and assistant Anton Frolov recommended an on-field review. Tanashev watched the replays at the monitor and maintained his original decision.

Speaking on Match TV, Glushenkov said Augusto's foot had slipped while he himself was running. He described the incident as debatable but did not insist that Zenit should have received a penalty.

Zenit's victory took them to 21 points and first place in the Russian league table.
