Guterres and Pashinyan discuss Armenia–Azerbaijan normalisation in Yerevan

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan on October 15. Their discussions included normalisation with Azerbaijan and security in the South Caucasus, UN spokesperson Farhan Haq said.
Haq said the talks also covered Armenia's cooperation with the United Nations, biodiversity protection and organisation of the summit. The Armenian prime minister's office confirmed the meeting and Guterres's participation in the leaders' event.
The regional peace discussions come amid the normalisation process between Yerevan and Baku. A joint declaration was adopted in Washington on August 8, 2025, following talks involving Ilham Aliyev, Nikol Pashinyan and Donald Trump.
The Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers then initialled an agreed text on peace and interstate relations.
