Healthy Wayanad to survey vulnerable residents' needs across district

India's Wayanad district administration has prepared Healthy Wayanad, a project intended to identify vulnerable residents' needs and guide local development spending. A consultation on its implementation took place in Vengappally on October 10, The Hindu reported.

The initiative covers people with disabilities, older residents, people with lifestyle diseases and members of Scheduled Tribe communities. Data collection is planned for every household in the district, with participation from the National Service Scheme, social work students and voluntary organisations.

Discussions will be held at village council and ward levels. The district administration and members of the state legislative assembly will lead the project, working with local governments.

Once the survey is complete, data dashboards will help administrators, legislators and local authorities identify priorities. Suitable development projects will draw on local governments' plan funds. Implementation will follow approval by the relevant local committees and the District Planning Committee, linking the collected information to decisions on funding.
