Hyderabad Water Board rejects message predicting reservoirs will run dry

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board said a message predicting that most reservoirs would run dry by the end of November was false. The board said it had not issued the circulating text.
The message spread through WhatsApp and other social platforms in the name of the water board, also known as Jalmandali. It predicted severely restricted or absent water supplies in the city and referred to purported official instructions.
The text also called for avoiding hoses when washing vehicles, ramps and roads, using dry sweeping and fixing household leaks. The board’s clarification does not establish that this forwarded list is a new official order.
In its October 13 statement, the board urged people not to believe or forward unverified messages using its name. It directed residents to official announcements and information channels for updates on water supply and conservation. The quoted clarification did not provide numerical reservoir storage figures.
