Railway police review Vijayawada station security ahead of Dasara

Railway police reviewed passenger security at Vijayawada and nearby stations on Saturday, with officers instructed to strengthen surveillance and coordination ahead of Dasara celebrations.

Inspector-General B. Raja Kumari inspected platforms, waiting areas, footbridges, trains, food outlets and ticket counters. Railway police officers told her that 190 CCTV cameras at Vijayawada station had been connected to the main servers.

Officers are to monitor the cameras around the clock and direct patrols to help prevent crime. Kumari also called for closer cooperation between the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force and other railway departments.

The review covered Kondapalli, Rayanapadu, Madhura Nagar, Gunadala and Ramavarappadu stations. Police were told to watch for suspicious luggage and movement, patrol trains and use public announcements to alert passengers. Kumari also reviewed arrangements for festival crowds and pilgrims visiting the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla temple.
