New Zealand beat Australia 50-19 to retain Bledisloe Cup

New Zealand defeated Australia 50-19 at Eden Park in Auckland on October 10. The All Blacks retained the Bledisloe Cup ahead of the return match in Sydney.

The hosts led 17-14 at halftime before pulling away after the restart. Australia's six-match unbeaten run ended in Auckland.

Australia coach Les Kiss said the opposition had imposed their strengths while his side struggled to use its own. New Zealand coach Dave Rennie highlighted the pressure created by kicks, with his players winning aerial contests and collecting loose balls.

The All Blacks extended their unbeaten run against Australia to 12 Tests. Australia's last win over New Zealand came in 2020. The hosts' unbeaten sequence at Eden Park reached 54 matches.

Len Ikitau left early for a head-injury assessment, leaving his availability for the next Test uncertain. Australia must also account for Hunter Paisami's suspension.

The return match takes place next week in Sydney. Kiss said his players would work on their shortcomings despite losing the chance to reclaim the trophy in this series.
