Inal Tasoev wins third world judo title in Baku

Russia’s Inal Tasoev won his third world judo title on October 10, defeating Azerbaijan’s Ushangi Kokauri in the over-100 kg final in Baku.
The International Judo Federation confirmed that Tasoev countered Kokauri’s attack to score ippon and secure the gold medal. Kokauri took silver, while Czech judoka Lukas Krpalek and Azerbaijan’s Kanan Nasibov won bronze.
Tasoev previously won world titles in 2023 and 2025. His victory gave Russia its fifth medal at this year’s championships, following four bronze medals in other weight categories.
Those bronze medallists were Niyaz Bilalov in the under-100 kg category, Sabina Giliazova in under-48 kg, Madina Taimazova in under-70 kg and Maria Ivanova in over-78 kg.
The individual competitions concluded on October 10. The championships’ schedule places the mixed team tournament on October 11, the final day of the event.
