Delhi tourists unable to show hotel bookings during internet shutdown
The Hindu reported difficulties for visitors and autorickshaw drivers on October 10 as connectivity restrictions blocked navigation, payments and access to documents.
Near Shivaji Stadium metro station, a tourist couple were trying to reach a hotel in Connaught Place. They told The Hindu that police required proof of their reservation, but the internet shutdown prevented them from opening their email or booking app.
Madhav, a visitor from Jhansi, said his family struggled to find an autorickshaw and then to arrange accommodation after reaching the city centre. The reporter also saw families pulling suitcases while looking for somewhere to stay.
Autorickshaw driver Jagjit said he usually made 30–40 trips within Connaught Place but received no bookings that day. Barricades further restricted passenger pickups and drop-offs.
Protester Vikas said his Rapido driver allowed him to pay later, once he regained connectivity. The accounts describe consequences for individual travellers and drivers rather than a measured total loss for the tourism or transport industries.
