Investigators seek to move General Sergei Malkov from house arrest to detention
Investigators have asked a court to remand former Moscow regional police deputy chief Sergei Malkov in custody, his lawyer Andrey Grivtsov told RIA Novosti. The internal service major general is under house arrest in a fuel theft case.
The Meshchansky District Court in Moscow will consider the request on Wednesday, the lawyer said. The court had remanded Malkov in custody in early September before his restrictions were later eased.
On September 23, the Moscow City Court placed Malkov and other defendants under house arrest. They included former logistics and service support centre head Alexey Suyarov and his subordinate Anna Levina.
Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk previously reported the discovery of theft involving motor fuel belonging to the regional police headquarters. The defendants face charges of large-scale misappropriation or embezzlement under Article 160, Part 4, of Russia's Criminal Code.
