Oleg Roldugin’s house arrest extended until January 10

Moscow’s Tverskoy District Court has extended the house arrest of Novaya Gazeta executive director Oleg Roldugin until January 10, 2027, the Moscow City Court press service said.

The journalist is being investigated over the alleged unlawful use of computer information containing personal data by a group acting in prior collusion. The case was opened in March under paragraph “c” of part 3 of Article 272.1 of Russia’s Criminal Code, which carries a maximum prison term of six years.

Law enforcement authorities allege that in 2025–2026 Roldugin may have obtained information from restricted databases through personal-data lookup bots and used it in articles. Searches were conducted at the newspaper’s offices as part of the investigation.

Roldugin was detained on April 9 and remanded in custody. In early June, the Tverskoy court changed his preventive measure, transferring him from pretrial detention to house arrest.
