PDP leader Abdul Kabir detained after remarks about Burhan Wani

Peoples Democratic Party leader Abdul Kabir was detained for questioning in Kishtwar after calling Burhan Wani a martyr at a party event. ANI reported the detention on October 9.
The remarks were made during a speech in Jammu and Kashmir. Wani was a Hizbul Mujahideen commander who was killed by security forces at 21 in Kokernag, in Anantnag district.
Asked by ANI about his wording, Kabir said he regarded it as his personal opinion and a matter of freedom in a democratic country. He also claimed BJP leaders had visited Wani's home and provided compensation after his death. That assertion was Kabir's own account.
The agency said Kabir had been taken to Kishtwar Police Station for questioning about the speech. ANI's account described detention for questioning and did not establish that he had been found guilty.
