Kalshi reviews bets that anticipated Katie Zacharia’s White House selection

Kalshi is examining wagers that correctly predicted Donald Trump’s selection of Katie Zacharia as White House press secretary before the news became public, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a platform spokesperson.
The first reports of Zacharia’s selection emerged around 2 p.m. on Friday, October 9. She had not been regarded as a leading contender. According to the newspaper, at least three small but well-timed wagers were placed before that information circulated.
A $19 wager could return about $1,900. Two other bets of roughly $74 and $80 were expected to pay about $3,700 and $4,000 respectively. The sums describe anticipated payouts, rather than proof that the traders had received them.
The review concerns trading on the prediction platform. Its existence does not establish that bettors used inside information. Separately, a White House teleprompter operator was dismissed in July after allegedly making more than $100,000 from bets on the contents of Trump’s speeches.
