Kamchatka prosecutors investigate complaints over abandoned tour

Kamchatka prosecutors have opened an inquiry after reports that a tour organiser left fifteen travellers in a remote area without food, water or communications.
A participant quoted in media reports said the week-long tour cost one hundred sixty-five thousand roubles. Instead of the promised jeeps, the group travelled for thirteen hours in a bus with a leaking roof, and the trip ended after four days.
She said the guide blamed blocked bank cards and told the group to arrange their own return. The travellers had to find a communications signal and pay for a transfer themselves.
Participants said they did not receive the meals, accommodation and activities included in the programme and had not been refunded. They filed a police report.
Prosecutors will assess compliance with tourist-service requirements and take action if grounds are established.
