Onagawa Unit Two shuts down for valve inspection

Tohoku Electric Power shut down Unit Two at Onagawa nuclear power station on October seventeen to inspect a valve leaking water into a drainage tank.
The operator said power generation stopped at one a.m. Japan time, and the reactor reached cold shutdown at thirteen fifty-seven.
The leak from a feedwater-heater valve in the turbine building was identified on September one. After monitoring it and observing a slight increase, the company decided to dismantle and inspect the valve and replace components.
Tohoku Electric Power said the water is collected and treated within the plant, with no radiological impact on the environment.
The operator announced the shutdown plan on October fifteen. It expects to restart after inspection and preparations, approximately ten days after the shutdown.
